We want everyone to be able to take part in Neureka, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Here's where we stand, and how to tell us when something doesn't work.
Our commitment
Neureka is a research project of the Gillan Lab at Trinity College Dublin. We are committed to providing a website and mobile app that are usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) [2.1 / 2.2] at level [AA]. This is the standard referenced by S.I. No. 358/2020, the Irish regulations on the accessibility of public sector websites and mobile applications.
What we've done
The following have been prioritised across the Neureka website:

A "Skip to main content" link as the first item on every page, so screen reader and keyboard users can bypass the navigation

Headings used in a proper hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) so pages can be navigated by structure

Navigation coded as lists, so screen readers announce how many items there are

Alternative text on images that carry meaning, and empty alt attributes on decorative ones

Text and background colours checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios

Form fields with labels explicitly linked to their inputs

Text that can be resized without breaking the layout, and no information conveyed by colour alone

No auto-playing audio or video, and minimal use of motion

If you find part of the Neureka website or app that you cannot use, or you need something we've published in a different format, please get in touch. Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using — it helps us fix it faster.
We aim to reply within 20 working days.

If you're not satisfied with our response. You can make a complaint under the Disability Act 2005 to the Office of the Ombudsman, or refer a complaint under the Equal Status Act 2000 to the Workplace Relations Commission.
This statement was last reviewed on 18/08/2026. We review it at least once a year and after any significant change to the website or app.
